Troop 61- Who are we?
Troop 61 is a unit of Scouting America (formerly Scouts BSA or Boy Scouts) based in Belmont-Redwood Shores, California. We pride ourselves on being a youth-led troop that seeks to promote leadership, a sense of fun, adventure, community service, and respect for the outdoors and our environment. We give ALL youth (boys and girls) a broad set of life skills, and foster their leadership skills through hands-on training.
We plan monthly activities such as camping and community service projects. We also go backpacking, hiking, snow camping, themed campouts, and have fun outings like bowling or go-kart racing. We attend Summer camp annually, though we like to vote on different camps each year. We continue to go on High-Adventure treks every year or two to:
  • Philmont, New Mexico for backpacking or horseback/cavalcade treks
  • Northern Tier, Minnesota for sub-zero snow camping or canoe treks
  • Sea Base, Florida Keys or Caribbean for sailboat adventures
  • Summit Bechtel, West Virginia for ATV or mountain bike treks and more!
We are guided by trained adults, providing opportunity for challenge, responsibility, and leadership. Troop 61 welcomes ALL youth ages 11-17. The program for younger youth is Cub Scouts. Please look for Pack 61.
